Hog's Breath Cafe now Grunting in Davao

I always feel happy every time a new restaurant or cafe opens in Davao. Every place that opens means a new dining and gastronomic experience for Dabawenyos. I couldn't have been more happier and proud-er when a famous Australian Food chain openened their first branch in the Philippines here in our very own city last December 13,2012. 

Hog's Breath Cafe is an Australian chain of steak house restaurants. It opened its business in Australia way back in 1989 in Airlie Beach, North Queensland and have spanned the globe since then with branches in New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam to name a few and now they are finally in the Philippines.

I was invited to be part of their pre-tasting event for Davao Bloggers before their official opening and Oh My we were in for such a treat!
For starters we had Tomato Bruscheta , Salt and Pepper Calamari and Buffalo Wings which are all very good.



We also had the Salmon Nicoise Salad which is very good. The greens are very fresh and the salmon is really flavourful. Salmon is quite expensive here so this is really a treat.



For the pasta we had the Spaghetti Marinara and for pizza we had the Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza. Again they were all very good.


Please excuse my lack of adjectives, I am saving them all up for the main dish which is the Prime Ribs Steak. This is Hog's Breath Signature dish which has been slow cooked for 18 hours in a special oven. The 18 hours really made the steak tender and just perfect! The steak is very savory and filling. This is intended for one person but four of us shared it and each had our fill. It is served with mashed potato and fresh veggies.

We also had the Smoked Pork BBQ Ribs which is equally flavorful and filling. It comes with the Hog Tail (twister/curly) fries and salad.
 
If you ask me to choose between the two ribs at gunpoint you might as well shoot me because I can't make up my mind just yet :) Kidding aside both signature dish became my instant favorites. They are a bit pricey though at P1095 for the Prime Ribs and P895 for the Smoked BBQ Ribs (Full Rack) but every cent is worth it.

For drinks I had the Frozen Mixed Berry which I consider as dessert because it is yummy.

But we were still served with desserts after all those delicious food we ate, such sweet torture! We got to try the Mississipi Mud Cake, Banana Split Sundae, Rocky Road
and Apple Crumble which I loved among the desserts. This is the best Apple Crumble i tasted so far. What I love about their desserts is that it is just the right amount of sweetness.
We were lucky to be able to chat with the Marketing officer Miss Roxie Macasaet and Davao Manager Lysander Camba who introduced us to Hog's Breath Cafe. THANK YOU so much for the invitation via Algene.


The place is decorated with Australian memorabilias. It has this vintage and retro vibe with the posters, murals and plate numbers. It has a tavern/bar and an enclosed room for semi-private functions. It is a good place to dine with friends and family. In fact, I brought friends from Manila there for a pre-Christmas dinner with our kids so they can also experience the Hogspitality! :)
