Starbucks Introduces New Sandwiches and VIA Ready Brew


Starbucks recently invited the Davao Bloggers Society for their first ever blogger event in Mindanao. Starbucks already have three branches in Davao : Abreeza, SM City Davao and SM Lanang Premier. Their coffee shops in Davao have met a very warm reception by the Dabawenyos that is why the Starbucks Team were excited to visit Davao.


During the event they taught us how to appreciate your cup of coffee and that is to smell it first, sip and salivate. They then made us sample two different cups of coffee, Cup A and B and asked which tasted better. Unanimously we've decided that Cup B tasted better because it was richer in taste and passes smoothly between your palates plus it smells really good. They then explained that Cup B contained the VIA Ready Brew.

Starbucks VIA Ready Brew is made from responsibly grown and ethically sourced high quality Arabica beans. It is roasted and brewed according to Starbucks standards. It includes microground coffee, wherein beans are ground so finely that they dissolve in the cup. This adds aroma, body and flavor to the coffee.

It comes in 3-pack or a 12-pack. There are two choices available:

1. Colombia- This 100% Colombian Arabica coffee is ethically sourced. Enjoy the rich, smooth taste, with that signature walnut-like taste found in great Colombian coffees.

2. Italian Roast- A big, bold, full-bodied cup of coffee, worthy of the Italian coffee tradition. This is genuine, dark-roasted Starbucks coffee, 100% Arabica and ethically sourced.

We were very fortunate to sample both coffee because they gave us samples. My husband and I are admittedly not coffee fanatics but we can appreciate fine coffee and these coffee are really fine and rich!

Another thing that they launched was their sandwiches! 

Spinach artichoke and mushroom on herbed multi-grain bread
This is their new vegetarian sandwich that consists of a warm artisan multi-grain rye bread stuffed with a delicious blend of cheese, spinach, artichoke, mushrooms, garlic and onions. (P160)

 Bacon and cheese on herbed ciabatta bread
This is their new vegetarian sandwich that consists of a warm artisan multi-grain rye bread stuffed with a delicious blend of cheese, spinach, artichoke, mushrooms, garlic and onions. (P160)


Tuna and cheese on dark ciabatta bread
This sandwich consists of a classic tuna dill salad, slices of hard-boiled egg and creamy melted cheese on a toasted dark ciabatta bread. (P175) 


Salami and cheese on marbled rye bread
It's a soft and chewy bread filled with sliced savory salami, provolone and cheddar cheese. (P165 )


Roasted chicken pesto and shiitake mushroom on flat bread (returning favorite)
This is a returning sandwich and it consists of a juicy roasted chicken breast fillet tossed with aromatic pesto mayo sauce and Shiitake mushroom topped with melted Emmenthal and cheddar cheese on grilled flat bread. (P165)

All sandwiches are absolutely filling and delicious. We all love them to bits. What stood our for me though was the Bacon and Cheese on Herbed ciabatta bread while Mike can't get enough of the Roasted chicken pesto and shiitake mushroom on flat bread . These sandwiches are perfect match for any Starbucks concoctions.

Aside from the sandwiches they also served us Mango Yogurt Cheesecake which taste heavenly. It is one of the best cheesecakes we tried and not your usual cheesecake variety.
